Chapter 1131: Janelle Tollman Arc, Love Rival
"If Mr. Sutton has nothing else, please leave for now. We’re getting ready to close." Janelle Tollman stood up, not planning to continue the conversation with Arthur Sutton.Arthur Sutton glanced at the clock on the wall. "Closing so early today?"
Janelle smiled lightly and explained, "We’re closed on weekends, so we’re leaving early today."
From afar, Noah interrupted, "Mom is taking my brother and me to the Fairytale Diner tonight. Uncle Sutton, would you like to come with us?"
Arthur Sutton looked at Noah’s expectant eyes, and also noticed Janelle’s expression, which was slightly awkward, clearly not wanting Arthur to join them.
Arthur also knew the timing wasn’t right yet, so he had to politely refuse Noah, saying, "Uncle has matters tonight, so I won’t be joining you."
Noah, holding a crooked paper airplane, ran up to Arthur and asked, "Will you come to play next time?"
"Still not done yet?"
Just as Noah finished speaking, a man’s voice came from the door, and Noah immediately greeted sweetly, "Uncle Archer!"
Janelle stood up, smiling, "Just about done, getting ready to close. How come you finished work so early today?"
The two seemed very familiar.
Wayne Archer said, "Weren’t we taking the kids out to eat? So I got off early."
Hearing this, Arthur Sutton frowned.
Wayne Archer glanced in Arthur’s direction, recognized him, and hesitated in surprise, then came forward, "Mr. Sutton, you here too?"
Janelle glanced back and forth between the two, then asked Wayne Archer, "You know him?"
Wayne Archer chuckled and explained, "He’s the one who auctioned that painting."
Wayne Archer was a painter, and during a previous spring outing, he had painted a portrait using Janelle as the model.
At a recent auction, Arthur Sutton bought the painting for a price in the millions, shocking the entire art and auction circle.
Janelle had heard about this, but she only thought the buyer bid because of Wayne’s fame at the time.
She turned to look at Arthur, her eyes full of confusion.
She felt there must be a story between this man and her, but when she asked earlier, Arthur didn’t talk much about it.
Seeing the two of them locking eyes, Wayne gently reminded, "It’s about time, let’s get ready to go."
Janelle collected her thoughts, put on a polite smile, and said to Arthur, "Sorry, Mr. Sutton, we’re closing now."
As Arthur stood up, Janelle called her assistant who was just coming downstairs, instructing her to turn off the water and electricity and remember to lock the door.
Wayne carried Noah to the car park, with Janelle holding her son’s hand closely following behind.
Arthur stood by the roadside watching this scene, feeling uneasy.
Before Dominic Tollman got into the car, he suddenly turned back to look at Arthur.
At the moment their eyes met, Arthur felt a sudden jolt in his heart.
Why did it feel like this kid knew something?
Wayne quickly drove away, glancing back in the rearview mirror at where Arthur was standing.
He knew very well that Arthur didn’t buy the painting because he particularly liked Wayne’s work, but because of the girl in the painting.
Seeing the resemblance between Arthur and Dominic, some things became clear to him.
Although he didn’t know the past between Janelle and Arthur, he didn’t want Janelle to have any connection to Arthur, because he liked Janelle in his heart.
