Chapter 348 - 320: My Own Effort Is No Match for My Pet’s
Chapter 348 - 320: My Own Effort Is No Match for My Pet’s
After personally testing the method, Du Yu went to his lord and relayed what he had learned.
"This method really works. Although the improvement feels minor, it’s far better than our previous futile attempts."
Du Yu’s eyes shone with excitement. He was overjoyed, for he could finally see the path forward.
Though the path was distant and uncertain, he believed that with perseverance, he would one day see the distant scenery.
"It’s a good thing to have found a direction to strive for," Qin Ziwen praised. His thoughts then turned to himself. ’Du Yu has found his path, but where is mine?’
’At the moment, I’ve acquired two abilities through my Extraordinary Ability.’
’First, the Giant Strength inherited from Black.’
’Second, the airflow control inherited from the Beaked Eagle.’
’When I inherited the airflow control, it changed, transforming into an Aerodynamic Sensory Network.’
’I can sense every change in the airflow around me, like an invisible spiderweb spread out at all times.’
’How am I supposed to train these two abilities...?’
Qin Ziwen fell into thought. He had tried to use Body Refining techniques to train his strength before, but with little to no effect.
’However, my strength did surge once recently.’
He tried to recall what he had been doing around the time his strength surged.
Suddenly, he froze, a certain possibility dawning on him.
’The last time my strength surged... it seems it was the day after I used a Growth Card to shorten Black’s development time, causing it to have a massive growth spurt.’
’Could it be related to that?’
With this in mind, Qin Ziwen decided to run an experiment. As it happened, he had just acquired another Growth Card.
He returned to the Giant Beast Breeding Center, but it was empty. Neither Black nor Little White Dragon were there.
"Where are the dragons?" Qin Ziwen wondered. ’Where have my two big dragons gone?’
After making some inquiries, Liu San told him he had seen the pair over by the Fish Pond a moment ago.
Qin Ziwen walked over. From a distance, he could see them by the edge of the Fish Pond: one large, one small, one black, one white. The two dragons were lying at the water’s edge, staring intently at the surface.
Black’s long neck allowed it to dip its head down to the water. It extended its pitch-black tongue and flicked it gently.
A large carp was plucked from the water and deposited in its mouth.
Little White Dragon was still small and undeveloped. It scrabbled with its little claws, straining with all its might, but couldn’t reach the water’s surface.
Its rear end rose higher and higher, its tail sticking straight up like a telephone pole.
PLOP!
Its claws slipped, and it tumbled headfirst into the pond.
Black casually reached in and skillfully scooped Little White Dragon out of the water, setting her down beside him.
Little White Dragon shook her head, looking full of life. She glanced at Black, then went right back to imitating his posture, sprawling by the edge of the Fish Pond.
Qin Ziwen’s expression darkened at the sight.
’Little White Dragon used to be so well-behaved. How long has Black been looking after her for her to turn out like this?’
"Ahem." Qin Ziwen cleared his throat.
Hearing the sound, the two dragons shot their necks up. Black was the faster of the two. With a single bound, its powerful body left a long afterimage as it leaped clean over the Fish Pond, landing precisely on the opposite bank before frolicking over to Qin Ziwen.
Little White Dragon stood up, but Black was so tall that it completely blocked her view of Qin Ziwen, even when she strained to stand on her tiptoes.
Once Qin Ziwen was on Black’s back, Little White Dragon could finally see him!
She let out a couple of yelps, wanting to copy Black’s leap, but one look at the wide expanse of the pond made her shrink back. Instead, she took off on her short legs, running the long way around in a blur.
Seeing Qin Ziwen on Black’s back, far out of her reach, the frustrated Little White Dragon began to hop up and down.
She yelped incessantly at Black’s feet.
Qin Ziwen said, "Get your sister up here."
Only then did Black reluctantly hook a claw around Little White Dragon and toss her onto its back.
Seeing Qin Ziwen up close again, Little White Dragon was overjoyed, her tail whipping back and forth like a propeller.
"You may be a female Tyrannosaurus, but you need to be a little more ladylike. You can’t just act like a... well, like a female Tyrannosaurus." Qin Ziwen reached out and flicked her on the forehead.
BONK!
Little White Dragon clutched her head.
Her eyes welled up with tears.
Seated on Black’s back, Qin Ziwen surveyed their entire Home.
The Home was by no means small, but for Black, who had already started his growth spurt, it was becoming a little cramped.
Qin Ziwen sighed. "This map isn’t big enough for you guys to run free. We’ll have to wait until we get to the next one."
Black nodded understandingly, a flicker of anticipation in its eyes.
Little White Dragon tilted her head. She didn’t quite understand, but she was happy just being near her master.
She shifted her body, adjusting her position until she was lying belly-up, her tail curled over her little stomach. Her eyelids were already growing heavy.
"To the warehouse," Qin Ziwen said.
Hearing the familiar word "warehouse," Black’s eyes instantly lit up.
It didn’t need directions from Qin Ziwen, expertly making its way to the warehouse.
The guard at the warehouse entrance saw Black approaching and was about to yell at it, but then he spotted Qin Ziwen on its back and hurriedly called out a greeting, "Sir!"
"Yes. Thank you for your hard work. Open the warehouse."
"Yes, sir."
Inside the warehouse, Qin Ziwen took out the silver Growth Card.
He aimed it at Black.
[Perfect Development] Requires: 30 tons of meat, including a large amount of fresh organs.
[Excellent Development] Requires: 15 tons of meat
[Standard Development] Requires: 8 tons of meat
[Stunted Development] Requires: 3 tons of meat
As Black had grown, the amount of meat required by the Growth Card this time had skyrocketed compared to the last.
’Is there enough meat left in the warehouse?’
Qin Ziwen mused that even though he was the Alliance Leader of the Qin Alliance, he couldn’t just use up all the meat on a whim.
’Even the Emperors of old kept their private treasuries separate from the national coffers.’
"How many tons of meat do we have left in here?" Qin Ziwen asked the warehouse keeper.
Thinking Qin Ziwen was there to inspect the accounts, the keeper hurriedly took out the ledger he carried with him.
Qin Ziwen took the ledger. There were forty-seven tons of meat left in the warehouse.
It was almost all fish, much of it from the fishing boats’ recent hauls.
Qin Ziwen noticed that the recent deliveries had come from three fishing vessels.
In addition to two new fishing boats recently built by the Ghost Ship Dock, the third was the Lost Home.
During times of peace, this Ghost Ship had taken on a side gig as a fishing vessel.
"Alright, I’m taking thirty tons of meat," Qin Ziwen told the keeper. "Put it on my account."
"Yes, sir," the keeper hurriedly agreed.
’In truth, it wouldn’t matter if Sir didn’t record it... No one would dare to question him.’
’The Qin Alliance is Sir’s, to begin with. Most of the fish in the warehouse come from the fishing boats, and after paying the crews’ wages, the rest belongs to Sir anyway.’
To prevent Black from getting stuck inside the warehouse after its next growth spurt, Qin Ziwen had it wait outside the door this time.
As the Growth Card was activated, mounds of meat inside the warehouse were engulfed by a mysterious silver light, which also enveloped Black outside.
Within the silver light, the already massive Black continued to grow even larger.
Finally, the light began to fade.
Wagging its tail, Black now stood taller than the warehouse itself. It was over eleven meters long, with a shoulder height of more than four meters and its head reaching over five and a half meters high.
Its current size wasn’t much smaller than the male Tyrannosaurus from the last map.
As its crimson eyes swept over him, the warehouse keeper standing nearby felt a chill run down his spine, and his body began to tremble involuntarily.
’The Alliance Leader’s dinosaur is getting bigger and bigger.’
Qin Ziwen opened his palm. As Black grew, he could feel his own inherent strength slowly but surely increasing.
’So that’s it! It looks like my guess was right!’
’After using the Meteoric Inheritance Contract, when the contracted target develops, my own abilities grow along with it!’
’Then what’s the point of grinding so hard myself? I just need to level up my pets!’
’Why should I work hard when my pets can work hard for me!’
