Chapter 13 Park Ji-yeon
Chapter 13 Park Ji-yeon
"Ugh, why are there so many phone calls today?" Xie Mingmu gulped down a glass of water, took a deep breath, and answered the phone.
"Park Jiyeon!"
"Moragu? You should call me Nuna!"
"Are you sure you want me to call you angry?"
"Maybe we shouldn't..." Park Jiyeon said with a smile, brushing it off.
"Why are you calling me so late? It's so late, I really want to sleep."
"I never expected you to be so irresponsible! I really misjudged you!"
"What's going on? What are you saying? It makes me sound like a scumbag. Don't say things that could cause misunderstandings, okay? There's nothing impure between us." Xie Mingmu was speechless.
"Have you forgotten how I helped you in Japan last time? Now it's your turn to repay me. Let me tell you, I'm moving now, but I have a lot of stuff in my dorm that I, a weak woman, can't carry. Shouldn't you come and help me?" Park Jiyeon's logic was clear.
"..." Xie Mingmu was a little upset. "Why didn't you just find any moving company? Did you really need me to get involved?"
"I don't care, I just need you to help me move. Are you coming or not?"
Women are such unreasonable creatures, and Xie Mingmu had certainly encountered one. "Why did you have to move so late at night?" Xie Mingmu was a little scared: "Are you trying to mess with me again?"
"What are you thinking?" Park Jiyeon asked, a little annoyed. "I'm a bit busy during the day, and I only have time at night. Besides, I'm a celebrity, and it would be troublesome if the moving company revealed my address. So please come quickly."
While there was some truth to it, Xie Mingmu felt it was all fallacious reasoning: "Aren't you the agent? Don't you have other assistants, hairstylists, and makeup artists?"
"They worked hard too, and the hairstylist and makeup artist are both women. How could you be so heartless?" Park Ji-yeon pressed her advantage when she saw Xie Mingmu's tone soften.
"Don't you think I'm working hard too? How can you bear to trouble me like this?" Xie Mingmu didn't understand Park Jiyeon's thoughts. "Then what do you take me for?"
"Of course I consider you my benefactor~~"
"Sigh, so you're repaying kindness with enmity!" Xie Mingmu said with a headache. "Fine, I'll help you out again. But I need you to pick me up; I've just settled in and haven't bought a car yet."
Park Jiyeon was overjoyed upon hearing this. She hadn't expected Xie Mingmu to be so easy to talk to today. She had originally planned to dawdle with him for more than half an hour. Although Park Jiyeon was certain that she could still achieve her goal in the end, she was still very happy. Could it be that Xie Mingmu had already fallen for her?
Park Jiyeon's thoughts were a bit whimsical, but she quickly replied, "I'm coming now. Send me your address. I'll come pick you up right now."
My address is: ..........
"Okay, coming right away, don't wander off!"
She arrived quickly. About an hour later, Xie Mingmu heard the horn and hurried out: "Come in first, I'll be done soon. Wait for me a moment, come in and sit for a while."
Xie Mingmu originally intended to rest, but knowing he still had to help Park Jiyeon move, he decided to tidy up the second floor as well. He figured he was free anyway, and it would save him the money of hiring a housekeeping company. He was true to his Dongda University tradition: thrift!
"Then hurry up." Park Jiyeon looked around first, then put on sunglasses and a mask before getting out of the car.
Following Xie Mingmu's footsteps, they entered the house, looked around, and went up to the second floor: "Is this your home? Are you cleaning?"
"Yes, I can leave with you after I finish mopping the floor."
Park Jiyeon nodded, watching Xie Mingmu mop the floor with great interest, like a doorkeeper, overseeing the process.
"You came all alone? Aren't you afraid I'll do something bad?" Xie Mingmu glanced at her, intending to scare her.
"I'm not afraid."
"Why aren't you afraid?"
"If you're not afraid, you're not afraid!"
"You should watch fewer movies in the future." Xie Mingmu regretted introducing her to Dongda Film School. Now she had even learned the lines from the movie and was putting them to good use.
Then she ran downstairs to take a look around, examined the layout, and then ran back up to offer her opinion: "The natural light in your apartment might not be very good, so the rent probably shouldn't be too high."
"Really?" Xie Mingmu didn't usually pay attention to real estate information. "You seem to know a lot about it."
"Well, I'm trying to save some money to help my brother with his down payment on a house, so I'm keeping an eye on this to make sure he doesn't get scammed."
Hearing this, Xie Mingmu fell silent, feeling a pang of heartache for her. He had met her in 14 when he was studying under his teacher, who was handling the case of the organizer absconding. That's how he met her, and the two unexpectedly hit it off and got along quite well.
Later, he searched for information about her online and learned that her situation was not good. In the past few years, in addition to the problems with her team, her family had also suffered many hardships, and she had to rely on herself to get through it all.
Park Ji-yeon also frequently texted him, sharing her daily life and her troubles. This was why Xie Mingmu was willing to help her move.
"I wish I had a younger sister like you." Xie Mingmu joked to avoid making the scene sad. He didn't want to make Park Jiyeon cry. When he thought about the last time she cried, Xie Mingmu's shoulders were still a little sore.
Hearing this, Park Jiyeon's expression revealed her happiness: "Of course, he is my dearest friend and family, my own brother, of course I have to help."
Watching Xie Mingmu mop the floor, she felt a strange sense of relief and security, unlike herself who would be awakened by malicious comments online or nightmares in the middle of the night.
Perhaps it was because his slender body concealed strength, Park Jiyeon still clearly remembered how he kicked a hater weighing over 300 pounds away.
"How much longer?"
"It'll take about ten minutes, it'll be quick, don't rush, it'll be done soon, it'll be done soon, there's no use in rushing."
"Okay, hurry up, I'll go downstairs and sit for a while. Call me when you're done." Park Jiyeon knew that Xie Mingmu was a slow-paced person who was meticulous in his work. Rushing him would only make things worse, and he might kick her out.
Without Park Jiyeon's interference, Xie Mingmu finished up in less than ten minutes. He went downstairs and gently called her name, but received no response. He went over to the sofa and saw that Park Jiyeon was asleep.
Seeing that she was sleeping so soundly, Xie Mingmu didn't want to wake her. Instead, he turned on the air conditioner and turned off the lights.
In a hazy dream, Park Jiyeon dreamt that she was being chased by a lava monster. She kept looking back at the monster getting closer and closer, feeling like she was about to melt. Then a voice appeared: "Standing by complete Henshin!"
Then consciousness faded into chaos...
