Chapter 32 Snatching People
Chapter 32 Snatching People
The audience area at the back of the stands.
Several instructors from the Beijing Film Academy's School of Traditional Chinese Opera sat together.
They come to watch every performance, partly to check on the teaching results, and partly as a routine matter.
When watching students perform, their expressions are mostly calm.
After all, these students were all taught by them, so they knew their own level and rarely received any unexpected surprises.
But today's performance of "The Fairy Couple" made several mentors restless.
"This Lin Hao..." A female instructor in her fifties adjusted her glasses, her voice low but still unable to hide her excitement, "was he taught by Li Hao?"
"Yes, I heard that Li Hao was entrusted by someone to teach for ten days," a male instructor next to him replied.
"Ten days?"
"Ten days."
The female instructor was silent for a few seconds, then took a deep breath.
"How did he teach him? To teach a child with zero experience to this level in just ten days... that's just too unbelievable."
"It can't be said that it's all thanks to the teacher," another instructor interjected. "As the old saying goes, the master leads you through the door, but the practice depends on yourself. No matter how good Li Hao's teaching is, if the student's comprehension is lacking, ten days will only be so-so. This child's comprehension... can only be described as 'terrifying'."
"Did you notice his posture?" The female mentor pointed towards the stage. Although the performance was over, her finger still habitually gestured in the air. "The way he flips his wrist is exactly the same as Li Hao's. He even replicated Li Hao's personal habit of slightly raising his little finger."
"I heard it's a complete imitation?"
"It's definitely imitation. But think about it, what does it take to imitate to this extent? It requires observation skills, memory, and body control—all three are indispensable. How many people at the Beijing Film Academy have you seen who have all three at their peak?"
The mentors looked at each other, none of them able to recall the names.
The applause gradually subsided, and the rest of the program continued.
But the mentors had lost interest in watching; they were all whispering among themselves, discussing Lin Hao.
During the intermission, they all swarmed towards Li Hao.
Li Hao sat in the corner of the last row of the audience, legs crossed, holding a thermos, looking completely nonchalant.
But only he knew that he was feeling an unprecedented sense of pride.
"Old Li!" The female instructor was the first to rush over, grabbing his sleeve. "How have you taught your apprentice? Share your experience with me!"
"What do you mean by imparting experience..." Li Hao picked up his thermos, took a sip of water, and waved his hand modestly.
"Stop pretending! You've taught a complete beginner to this level in just ten days. If you don't share your methods, we're itching to learn more!"
"Exactly!" another instructor chimed in. "I've been teaching opera for over twenty years, and I've never seen anyone perform like that at the Capital Theatre after just ten days of training. What teaching methods did you use? Do you have some unique secret?"
Li Hao couldn't help but smile.
He tried his best to maintain a calm expression, but the thrill of being sought after by all his peers was too hard to suppress.
"Oh, oh, oh..." He put down the thermos, pressed his hands together lightly, and said in a tone that sounded like humble pride, "This is not my achievement. It's all because this child is quick to learn. As you all know, teaching is 30% instruction and 70% comprehension. If the comprehension is not in place, no matter how good the master is, it's all in vain."
"Just how quick is his comprehension? Tell us the details!"
"As for the details..." Li Hao paused, thought for a moment, and couldn't help but sigh again. "For example, on the first day, I taught him the basics for an hour and let him practice on his own for two hours. After two hours, when I went back to check, his singing style and movements had reached the level of about ten days to half a month. He even imitated my personal habit of flipping my wrist, and he didn't even realize it himself."
"sky……"
"The most outrageous part was the last nine days. I taught him for one or two hours each day, and he practiced for more than ten hours each day. Over those nine days, his progress accelerated day by day. While others were reaching a plateau with each practice session, he was becoming more and more enlightened. By the last two days when I checked on him, he gave me the impression of someone who had been practicing for two or three months."
"You're making it sound so real..."
"I also think it looks fake, but I saw it with my own eyes and taught it myself. Why would I lie to you?"
After listening, the mentors remained silent for a while.
Then, it erupted.
"Will this child never pursue a career in traditional opera?"
"Has he considered applying to the Beijing Film Academy's drama department?"
"Old Li, don't keep this talent to yourself! It's not right for you to hoard this talent all by yourself, is it?"
"Let me teach him too! I'm really short of a student with a good foundation!"
"What's with the queuing? Let's go by age. I'm older than you, so I'll choose first!"
"You're older, you die first! Why should you choose first?!"
Sitting in the middle, Li Hao watched as these usually aloof seniors in the academy almost fought over a single student, and he couldn't have been happier.
Although he kept repeating things like "it's all because the kids are quick to learn," his pride was practically overflowing from the corners of his eyes.
This is probably the most fulfilling moment for a teacher.
The students you teach are so sought after that the whole world is fighting over them.
......
Backstage.
Lin Hao and Huang Shengyi had just come off the stage and sat down in the backstage rest area.
Huang Shengyi was very excited, with flushed cheeks and bright eyes, showing the energy of someone who had just come off the stage and whose adrenaline hadn't completely subsided.
"Junior! We're done singing! We're really done!" Her voice was full of laughter. "Did you hear the applause? A really loud applause!"
"I heard you." Lin Hao smiled as well.
Just as he was about to say something, he heard hurried footsteps coming from the other end of the corridor.
Then, a group of people rushed into the backstage area.
Leading the way was the female instructor in her fifties, followed by four or five teachers of varying ages, each with the same expression on their face—
Willing to win.
They walked straight up to Lin Hao.
"You must be Lin Hao?" The female instructor looked him up and down, then nodded with satisfaction. "Good, good, young man. I heard you're only seventeen this year?"
"Yes."
"Have you considered applying to the Chinese Opera Department at Beijing Film Academy? I'm Professor Chen from the Chinese Opera Department. Let me tell you, with your qualifications and aptitude, coming to our department is absolutely the best choice..."
Before she could finish speaking, the male tutor next to her squeezed in.
"Xiao Lin! I'm Teacher Zhang from the Performing Arts Department! If you're also interested in film and television acting, you should consider our department! The captivating performances you display on stage will shine just as brightly in the film and television field!"
"No, no!" Another professor poked his head out from behind. "Xiao Lin, listen to me, traditional opera performance and film and television performance are too narrow fields. You should consider directing! With your overall abilities..."
Lin Hao: "..."
Before he could even respond to the first person, he was already surrounded by the third.
The scene was very chaotic at one time.
Several professors were talking at once, each praising how good their department was, how abundant its resources were, and how bright its future was. The backstage area was as noisy as a vegetable market.
Huang Shengyi, who was standing next to her, was stunned by what she saw.
She spent almost four years at the Beijing Film Academy.
These professors are all aloof and cold on campus. They might nod at most when they see students on the street, but they are as serious as judges when they are teaching.
Students who want to ask them a question have to make an appointment first, and even then, they aren't guaranteed a spot.
What now?
A group of people surrounded a high school student who hadn't yet been admitted to university, vying to promote themselves, afraid that if they were too late, someone else would snatch him up.
This scene...
She turned her head to look at the air beside her, as if to confirm whether she was dreaming.
Then he sighed silently.
She performed "The Fairy Couple" on stage, but after coming down, all she got was silence.
When Lin Hao came down, he was met with a group of professors lining up to recruit him.
The gap...
Forget it, I don't want to.
