Chapter 22 Script Study
Chapter 22 Script Study
The next day, the director summoned the actors to a script discussion meeting, which also allowed them to get to know each other. In reality, there weren't many people; the meeting room was small, and there was still room to place the cameras for filming.
Jiang Youzhen arrived with Jiang Jingshu. It was quite early. He was carrying a roast beef sandwich made by his father, and had a bottle of milk in his coat pocket. Fruit was too expensive in China, and he wanted to buy some, but unfortunately, he didn't have much cash in his pocket.
Jiang Jingshu needed to meet with the director first, so she asked Jiang Youzhen to go ahead.
Seeing that it was still early, Jiang Youzhen quickly finished his sandwich and then pushed open the meeting room door. However, he immediately noticed that there were already people inside. He was startled for a moment, but quickly bowed his head and greeted them.
"Hello, I'm sorry, I didn't expect anyone to arrive so early."
The man was also a little surprised to see Jiang Youzhen, then stood up, shook his head, and smiled, "I just arrived too. You must be Jiang Youzhen-ssi. My name is Zhu Zhixun, and I play Li Xin in the film crew."
Upon hearing the name, Jiang Youzhen realized that he was the actor confirmed by the TV station. The other person looked somewhat thin and had a handsome appearance, but he exuded a strange melancholy aura, which lowered his overall attractiveness.
"Hello, I'm Kang Woo-jin, playing the role of Lee Yul. Nice to meet you."
The two were seated next to each other. After greeting the other person, Kang Woo-jin sat down next to him. The director and the others hadn't arrived yet, so the two started chatting.
Seeing Kang Woo-jin dressed casually with short hair but a very handsome appearance, Joo Ji-hoon subconsciously remembered what his manager had told him.
The actor playing "Li Yul" is the son of writer Jiang Jingshu. His father is a famous Hollywood actor, and his maternal grandfather is a senior director of a domestic production company. He is also a screenwriter and actor with three high-grossing films under his belt, and he has also acted in Hollywood movies.
All things considered, Kang Woo-jin is a second-generation celebrity who's been gilded and studded with diamonds, and he holds the most important position in this production crew.
This was all information found by the agent. In fact, when they met, Joo Ji-hoon was somewhat surprised by Kang Woo-jin's sunny temperament. He had a very good first impression of him, unlike what the agent had guessed, that he was difficult to communicate with. After a few words, he was no longer so tense and his emotions gradually relaxed.
"I'm four years older than you. If you don't mind, we can just communicate naturally," Joo Ji-hoon said with a light laugh.
Upon hearing this, Kang Woo-jin naturally wouldn't refuse, nodding and saying, "Okay, then I'll call you Ji-hoon hyung. I'll have to rely on you for help during the filming from now on, Ji-hoon hyung."
"No problem, let's cooperate." Zhu Zhixun nodded with a smile. During the brief chat, he had gleaned a lot of information.
Jiang Youzhen was a student who had studied abroad and was supposed to continue his studies in New York and prepare for a new film. He returned to Korea this time because the school was on holiday. After the TV series finished filming, he would return to New York to catch up on his last semester.
Joo Ji-hoon felt increasingly awkward. Other people would go back to Korea to film a movie when they had a vacation, but what was he doing when he had a vacation?
Could this be the difference between people?
As the two were talking, people came in one after another. After introducing themselves, they waited for the director and screenwriter to come in. The script discussion would take a long time, and they would also need to discuss whether to revise the script.
Kang Woo-jin wasn't very interested in giving feedback. The script was adapted from a comic, and if it was changed too much, it wouldn't be good and would easily be criticized by passersby. But if it wasn't changed, it wouldn't be very interesting.
Watching Joo Ji-hoon and actress Yoon Eun-hye deliver their lines with such deep emotion, Kang Woo-jin couldn't help but twitch his lips.
This is a super Mary Sue-esque, standard arranged marriage-to-love romance drama...
It was so cheesy it made his teeth ache.
Lee Yul doesn't have many lines. During the seminar, Kang Woo-jin spends most of his time quietly flipping through the script or looking at his mother. Occasionally, he can sense someone watching him, and he will glance over from time to time.
More than ten actors sat in the conference room for four hours before the director finally gave his approval. At that moment, a crew assistant came over with drinks and snacks and wrote down their requested lunch menu.
Kang Woo-jin didn't have the habit of eating pickled vegetables and grass as his main meal, so he refused. But it was at this moment that Kang Jung-seo suddenly approached him and whispered to him that the director suggested he grow his hair longer to better fit the image in the comic.
Hearing this, Jiang Youzhen touched his short hair and smiled helplessly, "A month isn't enough time to grow it long."
"So, how about considering wearing a wig?"
"..."
You don't have to.
Kang Woo-jin raised his head and gave Kang Jung-seo his answer with his eyes. Just as Kang Jung-seo was about to speak, Yoon Eun-hye's voice came from the side.
"Writer-nim, actually... Kang Woo-jin's current hairstyle looks great. Lee Yul's personality isn't affected by his hairstyle, right?"
Yoon Eun-hye's gaze was fixed on Kang Woo-jin's face. She had to admit she really liked Kang Woo-jin's sunny disposition and image, especially since...
Who could resist a handsome, tall, and strong man?
Jiang Youzhen smiled gently and nodded in reply, "Indeed, as for hairstyles... a normal hairstyle is fine, and it won't grow long in a month anyway."
Jiang Jingshu reluctantly accepted, but before leaving, she took a small bread out of her pocket and stuffed it into Jiang Youzhen's hand; that was her real reason for coming.
The seminar was about to continue, and just when everyone was getting restless, it finally came to an end. Jiang Youzhen and Jiang Jingshu were the last to leave. When they came out, he had a lot of food and drinks in his hands. Jiang Jingshu was watching him with a playful look the whole time, which made him very uncomfortable.
"Looks like our Youzhen is quite popular with women," Jiang Jingshu teased with a smile, noticing the speechless look on Jiang Youzhen's face. "Watch out for paparazzi taking pictures; these days, they really like young people like you."
"...Don't joke around." The snacks and drinks in Kang Woo-jin's arms were gifts from the actresses and female staff members of the film crew.
If it was just out of kindness that they brought him food because he hadn't eaten lunch, Jiang Youzhen could accept it. It was just that he couldn't stand the way people were looking at him.
Like a wolf, he slipped notes so fast that he could contact others privately that it was impossible to read them.
Jiang Jingshu just likes to joke about herself. She does hope that Jiang Youzhen finds a girlfriend, but she wouldn't accept just anyone.
After the script discussion, the preparation phase officially began. Before joining the crew, Kang Woo-jin basically stayed at home every day, only going out to buy necessities.
In the past two weeks, he tried to go to SM Entertainment a few times, but he didn't go in. He just observed from the opposite side for a while and didn't see Kim Tae-yeon appear, so he had to give up.
He had considered going in and asking directly, but that seemed like a bad idea. Besides, there had been a lot more paparazzi around him lately, and he felt that if he went in rashly, it would cause trouble for Kim Tae-yeon.
