Chapter 79, The Madman
Chapter 79, The Madman
Ding-a-ling~ Ding-a-ling~
With the crisp sound of the bell, schools of fish appeared in the previously silent sky.
Like a lantern parade, schools of golden, red, and silver carp glow as they weave gracefully through the densely packed streets and the gaps between skyscrapers, creating a dreamlike spectacle.
The fish gathered from all directions, stopping at the top of the tallest skyscraper nearby, where they circled slowly, one after another.
Frustrated by the traffic jam, pedestrians got out of their cars or leaned out to take pictures with their phones.
"Demon Lord Li Yu, you bastard!"
Jiang Fei slammed her fist on the dashboard, showing no pity for her beloved car.
She reached down to her waist and a crimson flower and butterfly fan with intricate carvings appeared in her hand. She pushed open the car door, one foot already outside: "A demon I don't get along with, I drove him out of Yin City a few years ago, I'm going to drive him away."
A school of fish that looks beautiful and magnificent but remains motionless is actually an invitation.
If Jiang Fei doesn't show up, all the ordinary people on the street will become fish food.
Cheng Chen nodded slightly.
He had already assessed the power the other party could wield. If Jiang Fei were to step into the ceremony venue with him, the other party would be completely powerless to resist.
Li Yu is no match for Jiang Fei, but she can hold her off for a while.
So, I'm the target?
Cheng Chen pondered casually.
If the target is Yinfu Entertainment, then Jiang Fei should be more important than him, and he should be the one lured away.
The records obtained at the trade fair show that the payer was Xianmeng Group. The other party had obviously borrowed or intercepted Xianmeng Group's resources and had the support of insiders from Xianmeng Group. However, judging from Chu Kai's performance in the concert hall, tonight's ceremony was also unexpected for him.
Was Chu Kai betrayed?
No, perhaps it simply deviated from their original plan.
If even allies are unaware, it can be concluded that the other party made the arrangement for their own selfish reasons.
So... what exactly do I have that would make the other party covet me?
Cheng Chen ignored the translucent girls whispering in his ear in ethereal voices. He looked down at his hands.
power.
Beyond the fifth tier, the power he had displayed in his previous attacks.
The other party wants to transcend the limits of the conventional magic system.
This means that...
"This means the opponent is still trapped at their limits, their highest rank being only the fifth tier, 'Star Calamity'." He muttered to himself, shaking his head involuntarily. "Ha... this is truly..."
Only at the fifth tier of 'Star Calamity', yet you dare to provoke him? Do you think you can take him down?
Cheng Chen laughed.
"I've been underestimated."
……
"Hehehe, did you see that? He laughed! That expression, wow! So angry."
The blue light from the computer screen shone on my face. The screen displayed the view from the traffic cameras in Yincheng, freezing on a single image and zooming in for a close-up.
Through the windshield of the Qimingxing X7, Cheng Chen's expression could be seen as almost completely blurred.
Ahui danced wildly, howling like a banshee.
But in the next instant, the frenzied voice suddenly subsided. He turned his head, his eyes becoming extremely morbid and affectionate, and gently stroked the cheek beside him.
"What should I do? Xiaotao, he's coming to kill me."
The room was deathly silent; no one answered him.
Sitting beside him was the pale corpse of a young girl, soaked in preservatives, dressed in a pink Lolita dress covered in lace, looking exactly like a doll being manipulated.
The corpse's face was heavily made up, but even so, it couldn't conceal her stunningly beautiful features in life. However, her eyes were lifeless and out of place.
Prosthetic eye.
The eyeballs were replaced with beads meticulously crafted from glass.
The unfocused prosthetic eyes were staring blankly at Ah Hui, who was listening intently, nodding repeatedly in the silence.
"Yes...yes..."
"You're right..."
"Thank you, Xiaotao." Ahui smiled, tenderly cradling the corpse's hands. "We promised, we'd be together forever. I used the purest magic to hatch you... You will always be my lover... I will love you forever."
grunt.
The girl's swollen abdomen suddenly twitched, and a patch of orange, lava-like light appeared from under her skin, with countless fine black blood vessels pulsating rhythmically like a spider web.
Ahui's attention was quickly drawn back to the computer screen.
"But before that, there are still obstacles that must be removed," he murmured, immersed in the bright future. "Soon, almost there... just a little longer, just a little longer..."
dong dong dong.
Someone knocked on the door.
"who!!"
Ahui suddenly flew into a rage, his bloodshot eyes fixed on the closed door, breathing heavily.
"it's me."
A voice that was extremely cold.
The anger on Ahui's face dissipated, replaced by disdain and annoyance. He gently touched the back of the corpse's hand, which was folded and hidden away by some kind of storage magic.
He strode to the door, pushed it open a crack, and peered out with one eye.
She was Jingwei, expressionless.
"Give me permission, I need to take her in."
Behind Jingwei is the magical girl Cangqing, who has already transformed.
"Was she the sacrifice?"
Ahui licked his lips, his tone chilling.
Cang Qing immediately frowned: "What 'sacrifice'?"
"Don't listen to this madman's nonsense." Jingwei vehemently denied it, then explained, "This madman has built a ritual site, and the ritual has already started and is spreading. It won't be long before it covers one-fifth of Yin City."
"The ritual is not yet complete. The most crucial sacrifice remains before it can be launched, and that sacrifice is you."
She paused, noticing the hostility on Cang Qing's face.
"But don't worry, this is just a trap." Jingwei's voice remained calm. "Besides the offerings, the ritual is missing the most crucial element: the chanting of names. Without someone to chant the names of, no powerful being will truly turn their attention here."
"Beneath the ritual site lies a layer of hunting magic from our Nightingale House. When the evil lord steps into it, we will trap him and hunt him down. You are the bait, posing as the ritual sacrifice, to lure him in to rescue you, and into the trap."
"I could never do such a thing!" Cang Qing reacted strongly, shaking his head. "You want me to lie to him? That's too despicable, I can't do it."
"Why are you still backing down now?"
Jingwei wasn't surprised. "You agreed to come with me, didn't you already expect things to turn out this way?"
Cang Qing clenched his fist, wanting to say something, but was interrupted.
"I understand." She nodded. "You need my help to ease your guilt. So, as you wish..."
Suddenly, a flock of birds formed from magic flapped their wings behind her and flew straight into Cangqing's chest.
Bang.
After a soft sound, she turned into an ugly baby nightingale, only able to open her mouth wide in fear and chirp.
Jingwei turned back, and Ah Hui's expression through the door frame became very amused.
She ignored the madman and simply extended her hand expressionlessly: "Permissions."
"I've already activated it for you." Ah Hui waved his hand, turned around and went back into the depths of the room, his back to her as he sneered, "Just a friendly reminder, remember to come out quickly after you're done. If you get trapped inside by the evil master... tsk tsk, I'm not responsible."
Jingwei's hand hovered in mid-air, making a loose clenching motion.
Suddenly a howling gust of wind swept up, and she and the fledgling that had fallen to the ground disappeared.
