Chapter 247 - 246: No Regrets in This Life
Chapter 247 - 246: No Regrets in This Life
Ye Honglian and Wu Chunmei were afraid of delaying Gu Yi’s rest. They left right after dinner.
Gu Yi woke up early this morning and hadn’t rested all morning.
Just after eating, she felt a bit sleepy.
She glanced at Ye Hao washing dishes in the kitchen.
She greeted her father and returned to her room.
Having just eaten, she was worried that lying down immediately would cause indigestion, so she propped herself up with a blanket and leaned against it on the bed.
The window was open, and the breeze gently brushed against Gu Yi’s face.
She leaned her head back, gently stroking her belly with her hand, closing her eyes to feel the baby’s movements.
When Ye Hao came in, he saw Gu Yi with a slight smile, looking content.
"What makes you so happy?"
Ye Hao placed a glass of water on the bedside table, sat next to Gu Yi, and asked with a smile.
"Having her and you, I have no regrets in this life."
Gu Yi opened her eyes, sat up straight, and said seriously to Ye Hao.
Ye Hao’s heart instantly filled with emotion.
He sat next to Gu Yi, gently holding her as she leaned into his embrace.
"Having you and him, I’m the one without regrets in this life."
Ye Hao said, holding one of Gu Yi’s hands.
Gu Yi nuzzled her head against Ye Hao’s neck.
The two gazed at each other and slowly smiled.
The wind wafted the floral fragrance from outside the window into the room, surrounding them.
On that sunny afternoon, with him and her, the sun shone just right, a light breeze blew, and the air was filled with floral scents.
Leaning against Ye Hao, Gu Yi contentedly closed her eyes and drifted into a dream.
Ye Hao gently laid Gu Yi on the bed and surrounded her with pillows.
Once Gu Yi was settled in, Ye Hao also took off his outer clothes and lay softly beside her, accompanying her to dreamland.
In the afternoon, Li Yitian arrived with a bunch of fruits.
As soon as he entered and saw Ye Hao sitting in the living room, he was momentarily surprised.
He quickly placed the items on the table and ran over to sit next to Ye Hao.
"Ye Hao, have you and Yiyi made up?"
Li Yitian couldn’t contain his excitement.
Ye Hao glanced at him, and how to describe it, it was like he was looking at a fool.
Li Yitian confirmed that, yes, Ye Hao was indeed looking at a fool.
"Hey, Ye Hao, your attitude is all wrong. If I hadn’t relayed your message to Yiyi, who knows when she would have forgiven you?"
Li Yitian said proudly.
"What message?"
Ye Hao looked at him and asked.
"Wasn’t it about how you brought down Yang Lin’s dad? Yiyi knew you did so much for her—she must have been moved, and that’s why she forgave you. But you have to treat me to a meal. Without me, how would Yiyi have known about this?"
Once Li Yitian finished speaking, Ye Hao knew it must have been Li Yifan who told him.
Ye Hao hadn’t planned on telling Gu Yi about this.
He always felt that if a man didn’t protect his woman initially, no matter what he did afterward, it couldn’t make up for it.
But now that Yiyi knew, and if she forgave him because of this action.
He really should thank Li Yitian properly.
"Alright, no problem."
Ye Hao readily agreed.
"By the way, where’s Yiyi? I haven’t seen her since I arrived."
Li Yitian had come today because he had business with Gu Yi.
"Just wait a moment; she’ll be out soon."
Ye Hao said to Li Yitian.
Then Li Yitian heard the sound of a door opening from the bathroom.
Ye Hao quickly stood up and ran to wait by the bathroom door.
Li Yitian thought it was strange, but soon it would no longer be a mystery to him.
Gu Yi came out, and Ye Hao eagerly supported her towards the sofa.
Li Yitian felt like this scene was very familiar.
He desperately searched his mind.
He actually found it: the sight before him was like Cixi with her attendant Xiao Lizi.
In his mind, Li Yitian even added a voiceover for Ye Hao and Gu Yi.
Li Yitian couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"Yitian, what’s making you so happy?"
Gu Yi asked, sitting on the sofa, puzzled by Li Yitian’s laughter.
"Oh, it’s nothing, it’s nothing. I just wanted to ask if we can find a designer now; it’s already set up inside."
The two of them were originally planning to move up the opening date of the clothing factory.
So recently, Li Yitian had been particularly busy.
But now Gu Yi’s condition made it inconvenient for her, so if there were matters to discuss, Li Yitian always had to come to her.
"I think the designer is not the most urgent thing. Since Wang Yuan and I can draw design sketches, we need someone who understands the drawings and is skilled in pattern making. That’s the most crucial thing, along with hiring some garment workers, though we don’t need too many people at first."
Gu Yi had also thought of this, but with her current condition and Wang Yuan still in school, neither could stay in the factory all the time.
So they had to find someone knowledgeable to guide the workers and handle the final inspections.
"A classmate of mine recommended an ex-tailor named Yu Jie. He lives in the east of the city, not far from the factory. He used to bring a team to do processing for a factory, but later stopped because he didn’t get paid. His skills are top-notch, and he used to have a team of about ten people. I think it’s worth giving him a try for a period."
Li Yitian had come today to discuss this matter.
"Sure, we can offer a higher salary and have him manage those ten or so people. We’ll set the requirements with him upfront, and because we don’t have many people now, we won’t provide accommodation or lunch. As a subsidy, we’ll offer a daily wage above the market rate."
Gu Yi thought that with only about ten people, setting up a canteen would mean hiring someone else, and since Yu Jie’s home was in the east of the city, his people likely lived there too. It would be more efficient to directly subsidize meals, saving them a lot of trouble.
"I quite agree with you. I was initially thinking of setting up a canteen for them, but when you calculate it, hiring someone and preparing everything is quite complicated. Your approach is much simpler."
Li Yitian felt like a light bulb had gone off in his mind.
This way, providing a small subsidy and offering a wage exceeding the market standard would make those people more willing to work at the factory.
"However, we must sign a confidentiality agreement with each person in the company’s name. If anyone leaks information before the clothes hit the shelves, we’ll hold them legally accountable."
Having experienced so much in the future, Gu Yi had learned of too many similar situations.
So, they had to be cautious in their approach.
As the saying goes, ’Don’t harbor intentions to harm others, but beware of others harming you.’
This way, even if something happened, even if they couldn’t recover the financial loss, it would still deter others.
Li Yitian nodded repeatedly in agreement after hearing Gu Yi.
"Yes, what you’re saying is absolutely right. I’ll ask my classmate to help us draft a contract. He’s a top-notch law student. Your divorce agreement last time was drafted by him, and wasn’t it flawless?"
Li Yitian was so focused on introducing his classmate that after finishing, he sensed a very unfriendly gaze fixed on him.
When Li Yitian looked up, he saw Ye Hao’s eyes burning with a fiery intensity directed straight at him.
