Chapter 233 Miss a Meal and You Won’t Starve to Death
Chapter 233 Miss a Meal and You Won’t Starve to Death
Gu Yi walked ahead, and Ye Hao kept following."Sister Yi Yi, I have something to do. You go ahead first."
Wang Yuan quickly said to Gu Yi as she noticed their state.
She didn’t wait for Gu Yi to ask where she was going and ran off in another direction.
"Hey."
Gu Yi watched the direction Wang Yuan ran off to.
Is it really necessary?
She glanced at Ye Hao.
Ye Hao quickly put on an innocent smile.
Gu Yi glared at him and sped up her pace towards home.
"Wang Yuan left. Let me walk you home."
Ye Hao jogged a couple of steps to catch up with Gu Yi.
He held her arm and smiled.
"No need, I can go home by myself."
Gu Yi said as she shook Ye Hao’s hand off.
Ye Hao didn’t get discouraged and kept smiling as he followed her.
Out of the corner of her eye, Gu Yi saw Ye Hao still smiling cheekily.
She wondered what kind of strange pill Ye Hao had taken today?
Anyway, she didn’t care, if he wanted to follow, then let him.
Let’s see how you keep it up once we get home.
Gu Yi tried to calm her emotions.
It might be because she’s now in her later months.
After walking for just a bit, she started to feel out of breath.
She suddenly stopped.
Standing there to catch her breath.
"You don’t have to walk so fast to avoid me. If you slow down, I’ll slow down too. But if you want to quickly shake me off, that’s impossible. I have long legs, and one of my steps can equal two of yours."
Though Ye Hao was speaking the truth, Gu Yi found it quite unpleasant to hear.
Was he complaining that her legs were short?
Gu Yi rolled her eyes to the sky.
"But if you want, I can take smaller steps, so one of your steps equals two of mine, okay?"
Seeing that Gu Yi wasn’t paying attention to him, Ye Hao quickly tried to appease her.
"Childish."
Gu Yi regulated her breath, tossed that single word, and continued walking.
However, her pace noticeably slowed down.
"I heard that when a baby is over four months in the belly, it starts to move. Is that true? Now that it’s over six months, do they move more during the day or at night?"
"I heard that at this stage of pregnancy, cramps might occur. Are you having them now?"
"I heard that pregnant women feel very tired and have trouble sleeping at night, frequently needing to use the restroom. Is that true?"
Ye Hao was like a walking encyclopedia of pregnancy questions, starting every topic with what he had heard.
Gu Yi didn’t respond to him throughout the walk.
When he finished his questions and got no answers, he simply continued with another topic.
Upon reaching home, Ye Hao also wanted to follow her inside.
"Outside is the road you can walk, but this is my home. You are not welcome inside."
Gu Yi said and shut the door in Ye Hao’s face.
"Then I’ll wait for you outside!"
Ye Hao called inside before she closed the door.
Gu’s father came out of the kitchen and saw Gu Yi heading to her room.
"Did I hear Ye Hao’s voice just now?"
"Yeah, he’s outside, probably took the wrong medicine today. He used to avoid me, and now today he followed me all the way, chattering by my ear."
Gu Yi didn’t hide it from Gu’s father and directly complained about Ye Hao’s abnormal behavior today.
Gu’s father felt a bit guilty hearing that.
Thinking about it, it was him who gave Ye Hao that kind of advice.
"Oh, I guess he’s looking for a new way to apologize."
Gu’s father said, continuously watching Gu Yi.
He wanted to know her current thoughts.
"Why are you staring at me like that? You said you wouldn’t interfere in our matters, don’t tell me you feel sorry for him now."
Gu Yi found her dad slightly off today.
Did he want her to forgive Ye Hao?
"Yes, I won’t. I won’t interfere. I forgot the food is still cooking in the pan."
Gu’s father said guiltily.
Gu Yi actually knew what her dad was thinking.
He always felt that she would struggle raising a child alone in the future.
If she found a stepfather for the child, he’d worry about the child’s well-being.
When it came down to it, her dad still didn’t believe she could manage well on her own.
Gu’s father served the dishes on the table.
"Yiyi, come eat."
He called out to Gu Yi’s room.
When Gu Yi sat at the table.
Gu’s father served her a bowl of soup to drink first.
Then he walked to the door.
"Dad, where are you going?"
Gu Yi quickly stopped him.
"Oh, nothing. I just thought of putting the trash outside, look at my memory, forgot to take the trash."
Gu’s father said and hurried to take the living room trash out.
"We’re about to eat, why take it out now?"
They normally throw it away after eating, together with the kitchen trash.
"It’s nothing, you eat first. I’ll just place it outside quickly. The weather is heating up and the trash needs to be cleared in time, or it’ll smell."
Gu’s father said, waving his hand past his nose as if the trash really smelled.
Gu Yi was amused by Gu’s father, there was just some paper she threw away, how could it smell?
Gu’s father opened the door, and Ye Hao was sitting on the stairs.
Hearing movement behind, Ye Hao quickly stood up.
"Oh, Ye Hao, are you still here? It’s dinner time, shouldn’t you go home to eat?"
Gu’s father deliberately spoke loudly.
He seemed afraid Gu Yi wouldn’t hear, so he specifically spoke into the room.
He even winked at Ye Hao after speaking.
Ye Hao immediately received his signal.
"Dad, don’t worry about me. I just want to wait for Yiyi here."
Ye Hao didn’t speak loudly.
"If you’re waiting for Yiyi, you shouldn’t wait on an empty stomach. Go eat first, then come back."
"It’s fine, dad, you go eat."
Gu’s father wanted to let Gu Yi hear it, but seeing Ye Hao was determined.
He had no choice but to close the door and go back inside.
Gu Yi acted as if she hadn’t heard anything.
"Dad, eat while it’s hot, or it’ll get cold."
Gu’s father sighed and sat down to eat.
He kept observing Gu Yi.
She really had patience.
Alright, let them solve their own problems.
After the meal, Gu’s father saw a lot of leftovers on the table.
"If there were one more person eating, these dishes wouldn’t be leftover."
He said deliberately.
"Leftovers are good, there will be toppings for tomorrow’s breakfast noodles."
Gu Yi wouldn’t take the bait.
Gu’s father was defeated again.
He washed the dishes.
"Yiyi, let’s go for a walk and digest."
"No, you go ahead."
Gu Yi knew Ye Hao was definitely still outside.
Since he changed tactics, he wouldn’t give up easily.
At least he has to go back to the army tomorrow.
Gu’s father ended up going out alone.
"Dad, going for a walk?"
Ye Hao stood up quickly when he saw Gu’s father coming out.
"Yes, I wanted Yiyi to come but she refused. I’m going myself."
Ye Hao quickly moved aside for Gu’s father to go.
When Gu’s father returned from his walk.
Gu Yi was setting up her easel, painting.
"Yiyi, Ye Hao is still standing outside, he looks about to faint, his face is pale, I’ve tried persuading him to leave but he won’t. He’s starving, maybe let him in for some food, we don’t want any accidents."
Gu’s father stood by Gu Yi, nagging.
"It’s okay, skipping one meal won’t kill him. If he wants to stand, let him."
Gu Yi calmly replied.
Seeing it was useless to talk to her, Gu’s father went off to do his own things.
