Chapter 1296 - 1291: Their New Home

South Garden Community, Sophie Foster’s new home. Nicholas Croft hadn’t explained to her why they weren’t moving into the villa but coming here instead. The Sophie Foster of now seemed indifferent to everything, as if she’d lost all joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, her face always frozen in a cold mask.

The Cadillac stopped in front of Building 5, Block C. The assistant and the driver got out first—one came around to open the back door, the other went to the trunk to get the luggage.

"Baby, wake up, we’re home." Nicholas Croft gently pushed Sophie Foster’s shoulder. Whether she was really asleep or just throwing a mood was unclear; the car was already parked, yet she still had her head pillowed on his leg and refused to get up.

Sophie Foster opened her eyes and glared at Nicholas Croft, her slightly knitted brows clearly showing displeasure, then she closed her eyes again.

"President..." Assistant Tang opened the back door and spoke with some difficulty. The driver had already set the suitcases on the ground.

Nicholas Croft sighed. "Take the suitcases up first. Close the door."

"Yes, President." Assistant Tang answered respectfully, not daring to raise his voice. Even the way he closed the car door was the same—light, careful, making only the faintest sound.

Assistant Tang and the driver each carried a suitcase and walked into the entrance. Nicholas Croft’s palm covered Sophie Foster’s face, gently caressing as he asked softly, "Baby, how about we go home and sleep, okay? It’s not comfortable in the car. If you’re tired, Daddy will carry you upstairs."

Sophie Foster...

She had already shut her eyes, and seeming to find Nicholas Croft annoying, she tugged the suit jacket draped over her and pulled it over her head.

Nicholas Croft found it both funny and helpless; he let out a sigh and didn’t keep pushing her, just leaned back against the seat and closed his own eyes.

Assistant Tang and the driver had already taken the suitcases upstairs. The two of them stood a dozen or so meters away from the Cadillac, smoking out of boredom.

Nicholas Croft had already prepared himself to keep her company like this. Ever since she’d changed her face, she was often like this—sometimes she needed him to hold her to sleep; if she wouldn’t get up, then he wasn’t allowed to move either, not even to use the bathroom or to eat.

Nicholas Croft raised a hand to rub his brow. The rush of the journey had left him not only mentally drained but physically exhausted as well. Right now he wanted nothing more than a hot bath and then to lie down on the bed and rest...

He didn’t know how much time had passed when Sophie Foster suddenly flung off the suit jacket over her body. The movement was so abrupt that Nicholas Croft’s eyes flew open in shock. Sophie had already pushed open the car door and, after getting out, tilted her head back to look up at the tall building in front of her.

Nicholas Croft hurriedly pushed open the door on the other side and got out. Slamming the door shut, he quickly walked over to Sophie Foster’s side, grabbed her wrist, and asked in a good-natured tone, "Baby, from now on this is our new home."

Sophie Foster pulled her gaze back and looked at Nicholas Croft, her cold face showing almost no emotion.

Nicholas Croft led Sophie Foster toward the entrance door. Although it was his first time here, Assistant Tang had already given him the code. His long fingers keyed in the digits with practiced ease; as he pressed them, he patiently said, "Baby, remember this. When Daddy comes home from work, you need to open the door for Daddy."

Sophie Foster impatiently turned her face to the side, but Nicholas Croft knew she’d already memorized the code.

Once they stepped into the elevator, Nicholas Croft went on, "Our new home is on the seventh floor. There’s an auntie living across the hall, and her son works abroad..."

Before buying the apartment, Assistant Tang had already thoroughly investigated the neighbors’ situation. Nicholas Croft had given instructions that they were not to live next to families with complicated interpersonal relationships.

They walked out of the elevator and came to the door of their new home. Nicholas Croft didn’t enter the code right away but turned to Sophie Foster instead. "The code is the last two digits of Daddy’s birthday and yours. Does Baby remember?"
