Chapter 261 - 260 Yang Lin’s Discontent
Chapter 261 - 260 Yang Lin’s Discontent
In the afternoon, Gu Yi sat next to Ye Huan, sketching her design. She contemplated making some small clothes for Ye Huan.
Calling it a design was an overstatement, as it lacked any real design elements.
Gu Yi thought of making some monk-style clothes for children from her previous life for Ye Huan.
They would be easy to put on and take off, and comfortable too.
After completing the drawings, Gu Yi went to the living room to start cutting and then sew by hand.
While she was sewing, Ye Honglian and the others came looking for her.
Seeing a piece that Gu Yi had finished and left aside, Wu Chunmei casually picked it up to take a look.
"Yiyi, your little clothes are really cute, and you’ve even attached a string,"
Wu Chunmei complimented her as she handed it to Ye Honglian.
"Yiyi really has a way with her mind and her hands."
Ye Honglian also praised as she looked.
"It’s not as great as you sisters say, just passing the time as I’m idle at home,"
Gu Yi said with a smile.
"Yiyi, you just arrived today, so take a good rest tonight. Come to my place for dinner tomorrow night to welcome you and Auntie,"
Ye Honglian stated her purpose for coming.
She initially intended to host them tonight, but considering that Gu Yi had finally returned to the base after a long time with a small baby, she reckoned it might be too exhausting to tidy up.
So she scheduled it for tomorrow night.
"Sister-in-law, no need to be so courteous. Ye Hao and I were also planning to host in a few days and have everyone gather,"
Gu Yi said, a bit embarrassed by the trouble.
"We’re also just using your return as an occasion to liven things up. Now that Fang Hong has had her baby, gatherings aren’t as convenient. Usually, it’s just me and Chunmei chatting, so it’s rare to have everyone together,"
Ye Honglian said with a smile.
Back when Gu Yi and Ye Hao were having a tiff, she thought there’d be one less person to chat with at the base.
But now things were better since Gu Yi and Ye Hao made up, and she returned to the base with the baby.
"You’re right; with a baby, it’s not as free as before. Whenever I have to go out for something, I’m always wondering if Huanhuan is hungry or crying at home. Once you have a child, they become your entire life,"
Gu Yiyi felt especially empathetic when Ye Honglian mentioned Fang Hong.
"Yeah, once we become mothers, we can’t help but shift our focus to them,"
Everyone there, being mothers, felt the same.
Afraid of waking Ye Huan with their conversation, Ye Honglian and Wu Chunmei left shortly afterwards, heading back to their homes.
The next afternoon, Gu Yi lulled Ye Huan to sleep and left her with Gu’s mother.
Following the usual way, she went to help at Ye Honglian’s house.
"What brings you here? Is Huanhuan asleep?"
Upon seeing her, Wu Chunmei quickly asked.
"Yes, asleep. I’ll have my mom watch her at home. I came to see what help I could offer,"
Gu Yi hurried in, eager to find something to help with.
"Yiyi, you should head back; it’s just me and Chunmei here. Once Huanhuan wakes, she’ll be crying for you,"
Ye Honglian, hearing Gu Yi, quickly urged her to return home.
Initially, she wanted Gu Yi to bring Ye Huan over to play, but with cooking in progress, the house might become smoky.
So she decided to just have Gu Yi come over in the evening.
\"It’s fine, my mom’s at home, it’s no problem. Sister-in-law, is everything on the floor here for washing?\"
Gu Yi saw a pile of vegetables on the kitchen floor and quickly asked.
\"Really, no need for you to wash; it’s best you avoid cold water for now. When we had kids, we didn’t pay attention, and now in changing weather, we feel the discomfort,\"
Ye Honglian quickly moved Gu Yi aside.
\"Yiyi, there really isn’t anything that needs help with. Sister Ye and I can manage. You should head back and check if Huanhuan is awake,\"
Wu Chunmei also chimed in to persuade her.
"Alright then, I’ll let you sisters handle the work. I’ll head back and come over later,"
Gu Yi knew that even staying there, Ye Honglian and Wu Chunmei wouldn’t let her do much.
So she decided to check on Huanhuan and come over later.
As Gu Yi left, she glanced at Qiangqiang and Nuonuo playing in the living room.
After Ye Huan woke up, Gu Yi carried her over and had Gu’s mother bring some fruits and snacks, then headed to Ye Honglian’s house.
As soon as they entered, they were greeted by the aroma of the dishes.
Gu’s mother placed the bags she’d brought on the table and took Ye Huan from Gu Yi’s hands.
Gu Yi opened the bags they brought and handed snacks to Qiangqiang and Nuonuo.
Ye Honglian happened to come out from the kitchen and saw this, quickly greeting Gu’s mother.
She then turned to Gu Yi and said.
\"Yiyi, you really shouldn’t have brought anything,\"
Ye Honglian felt that Gu Yi was indeed too polite, never arriving at their home empty-handed.
\"It’s nothing much. Just saw that Qiangqiang and Nuonuo were playing and thought of bringing some snacks for them,\"
Gu Yi responded with a smile.
Qiangqiang and Nuonuo, while munching on their snacks, gathered around Gu’s mother out of curiosity for the newborn.
By around four o’clock, Fang Hong also came over with her son.
Seeing her, Gu Yi was filled with envy.
Fang Hong’s figure had completely returned to pre-pregnancy shape.
Gu Yi quietly pinched the soft flesh on her own stomach.
She decided that once Huanhuan was weaned, she’d tone up her body.
Once Fang Hong arrived, the four children together created a lively atmosphere.
The two younger ones watched as the older ones played.
Being little, Ye Huan soon grew a bit restless.
Qiangqiang quickly fetched his small toys, eager to share them with Ye Huan.
Ye Huan, after watching for a while, began to pout.
Hearing Ye Huan crying outside, Ye Honglian and Wu Chunmei quickly urged Gu Yi to check on her.
In the evening, Ye Hao and the others came straight here after work.
Ye Honglian’s house was bustling with activity.
However, the atmosphere at Chen Jun’s home was far from pleasant.
Yang Lin knew that since Gu Yi came to the base, Ye Honglian hosted a gathering.
However, she hadn’t invited Chen Jun and her.
Initially, she thought despite Liu Guoqing being the deputy battalion commander, Chen Jun was still a company commander, and out of courtesy, Ye Honglian would invite them.
She had even planned that Gu Yi, having had a child, wouldn’t compare to her.
That night, she planned to dress well and outshine Gu Yi.
Giving Ye Hao a fair comparison.
But no matter how well she planned, Ye Honglian simply didn’t invite them.
Yang Lin looked at Chen Jun as he ate his meal.
Fury surged within her.
\"What kind of man are you? You’re a company commander, yet they didn’t even invite you,"
Yang Lin finished and gave Chen Jun a cold snort.
Chen Jun paused his chopsticks before continuing his meal.
Yang Lin picked up her bowl and hurled it at Chen Jun’s face.
Swiftly, Chen Jun raised his hand to deflect it.
The bowl fell back onto the table, shattering another plate.
A larger shard landed squarely on Chen Jun’s hand, piercing into it.
