Chapter 1539: How Could It Be Such a Coincidence?

Chapter 1539: How Could It Be Such a Coincidence?

"Let’s head out too." Trevor finally relaxed. With an arm around Janelle, he led her to the passenger seat, opened the door and shielded her as she got in. It felt like taking the very first step on a Long March.Janelle Mills couldn’t quite figure it out. The car had been perfectly fine when they came; how did the tire suddenly go bad just over the course of a meal?

How could there be such a coincidence in this world?

Trevor slid into the driver’s seat. After fastening his seatbelt, he started the car. When he turned his head, he saw the girl staring fixedly at him, her eyes filled with suspicion.

"What’s wrong?" He let out a slightly guilty smile.

"Did you puncture the tire?" Janelle asked bluntly. She was just curious, not blaming him.

Trevor actually laughed out loud. "Wasn’t I eating with you guys the whole time? I didn’t even go to the bathroom."

"Then you had someone puncture it?" The girl changed the way she phrased it. She was more and more convinced; the feeling was strong.

Trevor withdrew his gaze and looked straight ahead. The smile was still on his face, but this time he didn’t refute her so quickly. His eyes darkened, gentle as they rested on the dusky distance.

After putting in so much effort, he just hoped everything would go as they wished.

Smart as she was, Janelle already knew the answer and didn’t ask any further. She fell silent, her heart brimming with emotion.

Trevor was really wonderful. He treated her problems as his own, taking them so seriously.

He ran such a huge company; he was definitely incredibly busy. A big CEO’s schedule was packed every single day, yet he still made the effort to help her fulfill this dream.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked gently. His warm fingers reached over to take her hand, interlacing their fingers, as if passing a bit of strength to her. "Don’t worry. With me here, they’ll get back together."

"How should I ever repay you?" Janelle turned to him, moved. "You’re so good to me, and I have nothing to give you."

"Dating isn’t a business deal; it’s not about a win–win." Trevor drove as he glanced at her, a smile in his eyes. "I’m happy to give. Why would I need you to repay me?"

Janelle lifted his hand and rubbed it gently against her cheek. "I also hope you’re happy, that you’re joyful. I’m very happy being with you. What about you?"

"Of course I am." Trevor took the chance to smooth a hand over her face. "I think about you all the time—when I’m eating, in meetings, walking, right before I fall asleep, or in my dreams..."

Hearing that made her so happy! Her eyes shone as she stared at him. "Liar!"

"If I’m lying, I’m a puppy!"

"Hahahahaha..." Laughter filled the car.

In another two minutes, Nathan Mills’s car would reach the small villa in the housing estate. Because there was snow on the road, he was driving very slowly...

Like this, he could spend one more minute with Carlotta Sterling.

The car was wrapped in silence. Without Janelle Mills there as a buffer, the two of them didn’t even know where to start a conversation.

Three minutes later, the car turned and came to a stop in the courtyard.

Carlotta Sterling came back to herself and, before unbuckling her seatbelt, turned to look at him.

Gazing at his side profile, that strange yet familiar feeling once again lingered in her heart.

Just as she was about to say thank you, Nathan Mills’s WeChat notification sounded. He picked up his phone and opened it to see a message from his daughter—

[Find a way to go inside and sit with Sister Sterling for a while. We won’t be coming back for now. This is as much as we can do for you. Good luck!]
