Chapter 1537: We Must Toast Together

Chapter 1537: We Must Toast Together

"All the dishes are served, please enjoy." The waiter respectfully bowed and left, thoughtfully closing the room door behind him.The table was filled with steaming, generous portions of hearty country dishes, not often seen in the city, and they looked quite appetizing.

Everyone understood Trevor’s intentions, and the surprise in Carlotta and Nathan’s hearts turned into warmth.

Janelle, who always hoped her parents would reconcile, gathered her thoughts and smiled, softly coughing twice. She watched Trevor hand her father a cup of barley tea, then picked up her own tea cup, cheerfully addressing everyone, "Come on, let’s raise our cups first! It’s rare for us to gather like this, and this tea is really fragrant!"

Her chirping helped dissipate some of the awkwardness lingering in the air.

Seeing her start, Trevor quickly raised his cup to join in, "Yes, yes, we must start with a toast. I toast to the two elders."

Nathan lifted his tea cup, his gaze falling on the middle-aged woman seated opposite.

Despite feeling somewhat out of sorts, Carlotta awkwardly raised her tea cup.

The four of them stood to clink glasses together, and Janelle became the perfect harmonizer, instantly easing the restaurant’s atmosphere.

"This is wonderful, with the three parties discussing cooperation—you all know each other well! Trust is overflowing." Janelle smiled brightly, "Since both Dad and Mom are here, I have some good news to announce today too!"

All eyes were on her, watching with special attention and respect.

Trevor playfully teased, "What good news? Have you fallen in love?"

"Isn’t that old news?" Janelle glanced at him, joking, "I bet the whole world knows by now!"

She stood again, proudly thumping her chest, "I, Janelle Mills! Am going to find a job in Riventhal! I’ll be a piano teacher at a training institute! From now on, I’m Teacher Mills!"

"Being a teacher?"

"Teaching piano?"

Upon hearing this, Nathan and Trevor weren’t thrilled, as they had hoped she would work at the family business!

"Yes, a teacher. Why do you both look so disappointed? Aren’t you happy?"

It seemed they were a step too late, but as loving men, they could only agree and support her decision, their faces once again breaking into smiles.

"Of course, we’re happy, wholeheartedly supportive!"

"Congratulations, Teacher Mills!"

"Thank you! Thank you, everyone! Come on, let’s clink our glasses again!" Janelle’s radiant smile managed to maximize her role as a neutralizer.

For this reason, everyone toasted again using tea instead of wine.

The awkward atmosphere continued to lighten, and Carlotta finally relaxed and became more at ease.

"Let’s eat first; the dishes won’t taste as good if they get cold," Trevor said, prompting everyone to pick up their chopsticks, "Let’s chat while we eat."

At this moment, Janelle added, "Since we’re all family, let’s not stand on ceremony. Eating and chatting like this is much better than formally sitting in the lounge discussing work."

Trevor smiled, thinking Janelle’s presence tonight was truly right.

As everyone dined, Nathan asked a question, prompting Trevor to introduce the features of the new development project slated for next year, explaining how it differs from The Dalton Group’s projects this year and its greatest advantages.

He spoke concisely, focusing on key points without being verbose.

Actually, The Dalton Group’s real estate development was remarkably successful, considered top-notch in Riventhal.

With the meal winding down, work discussions reached a climax.

Three copies of the partnership proposal were given out, with one copy each for them and Janelle. As everyone continued eating and chatting, each person had their say.
